ZOK 27 Gold Standard is a neutral, biodegradable, water-based gas turbine compressor and gas path cleaner. Specially formulated with plant based surfactants, this product meets the gold standard for ecological sustainability for use in the North Sea as outlined in the OSPAR convention. ZOK GOLD is the perfect solution for maintaining peak performance of gas turbine compressors operating in ecologically sensitive environments.
Regular on-line and off-line washing with ZOK 27 Gold Standard produces outstanding results: reducing fuel consumption, exhaust gas temperatures and emissions, while simultaneously increasing power recovery and the overall lifespan of engine components – all this while minimising your environmental footprint.
How does ZOK 27 Gold Standard optimise Gas Turbine Compressor performance?
A regular on-line and off-line washing schedule is essential to operate any gas turbine at its peak performance.
A major source of power loss for gas turbines is airborne contaminants, fouling the compressor and Inlet Guide Vanes (IGVs). These foreign contaminants reduce the efficiency of the compressor blades and IGVs.
In addition to all of the benefits of washing with ZOK 27, with its highly refined formula ZOK 27 Gold Standard achieves lower ash content and reduction in metals. This offers an additional level of corrosion protection in hot engines, decreases the risk of blocked blade pores and the clogging of cooling pathways.
As can be seen from the graph below, gas turbine compressor performance is returned to near optimum levels when on-line and off-line washing is employed as part of your regular maintenance schedule.
Turbine Aging Analysis Graph
RED LINE – Demonstrates the natural aging line or drop in performance of a GT compressor over time.
YELLOW CURVE – Shows the speedy loss in overall GT compressor performance when no on-line or off-line washing is conducted.
BLACK LINE – Illustrates the potent advantage of implementing on-line washing.
GREEN LINE – Highlights the sharp recovery in compressor performance with off-line washing.
In conclusion, regular scheduled compressor washing with ZOK 27 Gold Standard provides:
- A reduction in unplanned downtime
- A reduction in exhaust gas temperature
- Power recovery
- An increase in fuel efficiency
- A reduction in harmful emissions
- An increase in the overall lifespan of engine components
- Health and safety reassurance with water-based and biodegradable ingredients, specially formulated for use in the most ecologically sensitive environments
- Outstanding results in toxicity, biodegradability and bio-accumulation testing.
Mix 1 part ZOK 27 Gold Standard with 4 parts water before use (20% solution). For on-line cleaning, use demineralised water (<11μS/cm conductivity). For off-line cleaning, drinking water may be used (<700μS/cm conductivity). Consult your engine’s operations manual for specific instructions.
The duration of protection provided by ZOK GOLD’s corrosion inhibitor will vary depending on environmental conditions. In all cases, from the most mild to the harshest environments, full effectiveness can be restored with a simple engine wash – with no demineralised water rinse required.
ZOK 27 Gold Standard is suitable for both on-line and off-line compressor cleaning. An efficient clean can be achieved even during the very short dwell times of a hot wash. The corrosion inhibitor allows engines to be left ready for instant restart, even in salty offshore conditions. Water rinse and dry out runs are not necessary unless recommended by the engine manufacturer.
The concentrate is easily diluted for use in the Aircraft, Marine, Oil and Gas, Industrial and Power Generation Industries.
ZOK Gold Case Study: Alstom (EGT) Typhoon off-line – Norwegian Rig
A number of years ago, a leading offshore operator in the North Sea decided to put the cleaning power of ZOK 27 Gold Standard to the test.
The photographs below show the residual fluids after washing an Alstom (EGT) Typhoon off-line. The engine is used for emergency power backup on this Norwegian rig.
The first photograph shows the results of washing and rinsing 3 times with a competitor’s product:
The second photograph show the results of washing and rinsing just twice with ZOK 27 Gold Standard:
As can be clearly seen, ZOK GOLD removed a far greater amount of fouling in the first wash. The subsequent wash and rinses demonstrate that only one wash and rinse was required when using the ZOK product in this situation.
Had the operator used ZOK 27 Gold Standard at the outset, time, effort and expense would have been saved, with the added peace of mind knowing that ZOK Gold Standard is approved for use in the most sensitive ecological environments.
